Avian Activities
September has been a very busy month for the Avian Business Unit. Three major marketing and sales activities were done for the month.
POULTRY SHOW - Merial Philippines, Inc. participated in the 2007 Poultry Show held at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall from September 14- 16, 2007. (more info)

Merial @ Vet Schools
Merial Philippines, Inc, through its Technical/Marketing Manager for Large Animals, Dr. Tom Acorda donated books and CD's on Porcine Circovirus Associated Diseases or PCVD to Tarlac College of Agriculture (TCA), Pampanga Agricultural Colleges (PAC), and Central Luzon State University (CLSU). Dr. Acorda handed over the donation to the respective presidents of the State Universities. This was followed by his lectures on PCVD and product orientation on Merial's swine products among the senior veterinary students of the different schools. (more info)

PVMA 2007
Hotel Philippine Plaza, Philippines - Merial Philippines, Inc. (MPI) participated in the recently concluded 74th Annual Scientific Conference and Centennial Celebration of the Philippines Veterinary Medical Association Convention held at the Hotel Philippine Plaza on February 21 - 23, 1007. The theme for this year's convention is "THE FILIPINO Veterinarian: A Century Ago, A Century to Go!" (more info)

RAC-ADCE Region III
Capitol Compound, City of San Fernando, Pampanga- The Region III Regional Advisory Council- Animal Disease Control and Emergency (RAC-ADCE) held its 2nd Technical Meeting for 2007 at the DA- RFU Region III Conference Room, Capitol Compound, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on March 27, 2007. Merial Philippines, Inc. (MPI) through its Avian Business Unit was invited to the said meeting to sponsor the speaker for the selected topic for the month: Avian Influenza. (more info)

QPLC Seminar
Lucena City, Quezon- On March 23, 2007, the Broiler and Breeder Technical Team of QPLC attended a technical seminar held at Green Meadows Subdivision, Lucena City. The farm personnel from different venture farms ran by QPLC also attended the seminar. The technical seminar focused on HEAT STRESS MANAGEMENT; its effect on flock performance and the different management techniques to alleviate the effects of heat stress. This is in line with Merial Philippines, Inc. efforts in providing technical assistance to its clients by conducting technical seminars about relevant topics. (more info)

CAFCOR Sustamina - Seminar
Villa Luz Resort, Silang, Cavite - On March 21, 2007 the Poultry Technical and Extension Personnel of CAFCOR- SUSTAMINA attended the technical seminar conducted by Dr. Niki Atienza. The seminar focused on Respiratory Diseases, its causes and several approaches in preventing respiratory diseases through management, vaccination and medication. This is in line with Merial Philippines, Inc. effort to provide technical assistance to its clients by conducting technical seminars about relevant topics. (more info)

Merial Joins 'Egg and Chicken Expo 2006'
MERIAL PHILIPPINES, INC. participated in the POULTRY SHOW, ‘The Egg and Chicken Expo 2006’, held in the Megatrade Halls A & B of the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City on September 15-17, 2006. This event was co-organized by the National Federation of Egg Producers of the Philippines (NFEPP) and the United Broiler Raisers Association (UBRA). This year marked the first time that both organizations joined forces to come up with a unified Poultry Show. In previous years, it was only the NFEPP that had its annual EGG SHOW. (more info)

Swine Courses in Cebu, Philippines
Two swine courses designed for veterinarians and swine raisers were simultaneously conducted on August 29-30, 2006 at Southwestern University (SWU), Cebu City by the International Training Center for Pig Husbandry (ITCPH) with the cooperation of Merial Philippines, Inc. The activity is part of the continuing professional education (CPE) program of SWU College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).

Merial Facilitates Art Donation to the PVMA Office
The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) is now the proud owner of a painting donated by William Yu and The Metro Gallery. Done in the artist's trademark Cubism style, the oil on canvass painting depicts the Filipino gamefowl afficionado and is expected to be prominently displayed in the newly spruced up office of the PVMA in Cubao, Quezon City.

Classical Swine Fever: Old Disease, New Challenges
During the 2nd Congress of the Asian Pig Veterinary Society Congress (19 & 20 September 2005) held at the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel, Manila, a Corporate Symposium was organised by MERIAL on classical swine fever (better known in the Philippines as hog cholera).

Merial And The Environment: Rainforestation Anyone?
Merial Philippines culminated its Mid-Year Conference last July with a tree planting activity at one of the rainforestation projects of the Haribon Foundation. On the last day of the conference in Antipolo, the team took a 1½ hour car ride and then trudged up the mountainside for more than an hour to reach the project site in Barangay Laiban, Tanay, Rizal.
