Merial Facilitates Art Donation to the PVMA Office

The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) is now the proud owner of a painting donated by William Yu and The Metro Gallery. Done in the artist's trademark Cubism style, the oil on canvass painting depicts the Filipino gamefowl afficionado and is expected to be prominently displayed in the newly spruced up office of the PVMA in Cubao, Quezon City.

Hearing of PVMA president Dr. Beth Callanta’s wish made during the last VPAP Convention for some art works to make the newly renovated PVMA office an even more pleasant workplace, Merial approached Ms. Irene Cometa of The Metro Gallery for assistance in finding an artist who would be willing to do a painting for the PVMA. Ms. Cometa immediately suggested William Yu citing his generous spirit and his skill in using animals in his compositions. True enough, Yu right away agreed when approached with the request for a painting and came up with “Sabungero”.

The Metro Gallery has been instrumental in coordinating the production and use of original artworks by established Filipino artists in the Merial desk calendar. William Yu was one of the featured artists in the 2005 edition of the Merial desk calendar.
