The 2005 Merial Philippines, Inc. calendar pays tribute to all our mothers, whose photographs we endeavored to gather and preserve for posterity. It is our way of defining our mothers’ collective role as guide, protector and inspiration in the struggles and challenges we face in life. The other half of the tribute comes from nine of the Philippines’ leading contemporary artists – Hermes Alegre, Jovito Andres, Angel Cacnio, Cris Cruz, Emmanuel Garibay, Jun Martinez, Lydia Velasco, Frank Verano and William Yu – who graciously acceded to the task of delineating the calendar theme on their canvases. In their inspired and inspiring works, the artists have joined hands with us in Merial as we pay our collective tribute to our mothers and our beloved Mother and Child, truly and deservedly, the Mother of all icons.
